Cafe/Baking excursion to Queen Victoria Market

Students from our Café Baking and Food Technology classes recently had the opportunity to visit the iconic Queen Victoria Market 🛒for an engaging and educational excursion.

The day began with a guided tour that focused on sustainability 🌱and waste management within the market. Students were surprised to learn that around 80% of all waste generated at the market is recycled♻️, through a range of innovative practices. This gave everyone valuable insight into how large organisations can successfully reduce their environmental impact🌍.

As well as learning about sustainability, students also explored the fascinating history of the market and how it has developed into the vibrant hub it is today. The highlight for many was the chance to wander through the stalls in small groups, taking in the incredible range of fresh produce🍎, specialty foods 🥖and unique market culture✨.

It was an inspiring and enjoyable day out combining education, sustainability and plenty of hands-on learning.
